A highly stable quadruply hydrogen-bonded heterocomplex useful for supramolecular polymer blends.
The butyl urea of guanosine (UG) presents an ADDA hydrogen-bonding array that is complementary to the DAAD array of 2,7-diamido-1,8-naphthyridine (DAN). The stability of the DAN.UG complex was measured by fluorimetry using the fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) from the naphthyridine ring to a coumarin 343 moiety linked covalently to the UG unit. The quadruply hydrogen-bonded complex...
متن کاملMinimal complementary hydrogen-bonded double helices.
Molecular strands incorporating three hydrogen bond donor (D) or acceptor (A) heterocycles form highly stable double helical complexes through a complementary AAA-DDD array structure.
متن کاملSelf-complementarity of terminal sequences within plus or minus strands of adenovirus-associated virus DNA.
At least 70% of plus or minus strands of adenovirus-associated virus DNA contain self-complementary sequences at or near their termini. Self-annealing of these sequences generates circular molecules that are closed by duplex, hydrogen-bonded segments. The self-annealed segments are sensitive to exonuclease III and have a thermal stability comparable to that of double-stranded DNA molecules. Len...
متن کاملStable supramolecular helical structure of C6-symmetric hydrogen-bonded hexakis(phenylethynyl)benzene derivatives with amino acid pendant groups and their unique fluorescence properties.
A highly stable supramolecular helical structure was formed by the self-assembly of novel C6-symmetric hydrogen-bonded discotic molecules, hexakis(phenylethynyl)benzene derivatives with chiral alanine parts, and exhibited orange excimer emission with a large Stokes shift.
متن کاملInverted repetitious sequences in the macronuclear DNA of hypotrichous ciliates.
The low-molecular-weight macronuclear DNA of the hypotrichous ciliates Oxytricha, Euplotes, and Paraurostyla contains inverted repetitious sequences. Up to 89% of the denatured macronuclear DNA molecules form single-stranded circles due to intramolecular renaturation of complementary sequences at or near the ends of the same polynucleotide chain. Other ciliated protozoans, such as Tetrahymena, ...
